Manifest’s ethnic-focused event series, The Souq, makes its return since its first edition a year ago. This edition, held at RASA Floor, welcomes Melbourne-based Afrohouse artist Mike Steva, personally selected by the godfather of Afrohouse, Osunlade.

Steva will be joined by Singapore’s party circuit favourites: Chichi, Kunda, and Stephen Day. Together, they will deliver a night of ancestral rhythms, tribal percussion, and Afrohouse sounds.

Mike Steva fuses organic house and electronic music with ethnic & world instruments, most noticeably his signature drums and percussive rhythms.

Having released over 100 tracks to date, he’s produced and worked with artists and record labels such as Osunlade (Yoruba Records), Dixon & Ame (Innervisions), Louie Vega (Masters at Work), Simon Dunmore (Former Defected, Glitterbox), Bedouin, Sondela and Mo Black to name a few.

Steva’s talent was noticed by Osunlade in 2010 on his inaugural tour to Australia and it wasn’t too long before he was signed to Osunlade’s label, Yoruba Records in 2012.

Steva released his debut album titled ‘Who Am I’ in 2014. Dubbed the ‘Golden Child’ of Yoruba Records, the album was nominated in the top 100 albums in 2014 at the Worldwide Music Awards by Giles Peterson. His hit duet vocal ‘Weekend Love’ caught the attention of House music legend and Master At Work himself, Louie Vega who remixed the song.

On this night, Manifest conjures up a sonic marketplace of ancestral rhythms, tribal percussion and Afrohouse energy filling the air till the last beat drops.
