Local label Darker Than Wax heads to RASA Floor with a label takeover, inviting American DJ Nativesun of Black Rave Culture, alongside label head Dean Chew and member Daryl Knows, who is also one of RASA’s residents.

Dean Chew cut his teeth playing in the legendary Zouk club / Velvet Underground in Singapore since the early 2010s and has grown a robust community around his Darker Than Wax parties and activations around the island.

Nativesun arrives with selections of house, techno, Jersey club, jungle, and baile funk, sounds that celebrate the Black origins of dance music and the mission behind Black Rave Culture, a collective established in 2020 as a response to social and cultural issues affecting Black communities.

Since launching in 2020, the collective’s releases, Black Rave Culture Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, have become statements as much as club records, reclaiming and archiving Black cultural history through sampling and production.

As a DJ and performer, Nativesun is active in clubs and at events, helping to shape the evolution of underground dance music and sharing the message of Black Rave Culture both in the U.S. and internationally.
